A native of Hickory, North Carolina, Violist Santiago Vazquez-Loredo began studying violin at public school at the age of 11. As a passionate chamber musician, Santiago has collaborated alongside renowned musicians including Miriam Fried, Hye-Jin Kim, Xiao-Dong Wang, Kwan Yi, Catherine Cho, and Emanuel Gruber as part of the Four Seasons Chamber Music Festival’s Next Generation Series at East Carolina University. His summer festival engagements include the Apple Hill Center for Chamber Music in Nelson and the Bowdoin International Music Festival in Maine. Santiago has been featured in solo masterclasses for Daniel Phillips, Ida Kavafian, Axel Strauss, Maiya Papach, Bella Hristova, and Jesse Mills. In the chamber music setting, Santiago has been afforded the opportunity to perform in masterclass for world-class musicians including Michael Kannen, Maria Lambros, Hsin-Yun Huang, Paul Biss and Zvi Plesser. Santiago graduated from East Carolina University in 2019 with a bachelor’s degree and a Certificate of Advanced Performance Studies in Viola under the tutelage of Ara Gregorian and is currently enrolled in the Master of Music Graduate program at The New England Conservatory under the tutelage of renowned pedagogue Kim Kashkashian. In his free time, Santiago enjoys walks, biking, and admiring how incredibly strong the wind can be in the streets of Boston.
